I bought individual stocks such as Amazon yesterday via my self-directed solo 401k non prototype brokerage account. If I sell it and get capital gains, do we have to report capital gain on my tax return ?
ANSWER:
The solo 401k plan is a tax exempt entity. You do not report the capital gains from the sale of the Amazon stock.
The plan receives the proceeds from the sale of the Amazon stock. The gains grow on a tax deferred basis until distributions are taken from the plan.
